MMA Champ Michael Page Speaks Out Against Mike Tyson-Jake Paul Fight: A Misguided Pairing of Talent and Attention

I must defeat him

Michael Page, a mixed martial artist known as “Venom,” recently expressed his disapproval of the upcoming fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. In an interview with Sports Seriously’s Tony Anderson, Page shared his thoughts on the highly anticipated match happening this summer.

Jake Paul, a YouTuber-turned prizefighter, has been promoting his fight with boxing legend Mike Tyson, scheduled to take place on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The event will be available on Netflix, adding to the hype surrounding the clash between the 27-year-old Paul and the 57-year-old Tyson.

During the Formula One Miami Grand Prix, Paul made a bold statement in front of the Ferrari garage at the Miami Dolphins’ Hard Rock Stadium, expressing his respect for Tyson but emphasizing his competitive mindset going into the fight. Paul stated that despite his admiration for Tyson, the match between them would be like war, with no holds barred.

While acknowledging the respect he has for Tyson and his influence on boxing, Page is not impressed by Paul’s decision to step into the ring against one of history’s greatest fighters. In an interview with ESPN’s First Take earlier this week, Page explained why he believes that this fight is a misuse of talent and attention: “I think it’s kind of stupid to put these two guys together in a fight,” said Page. “Mike is one of my idols growing up and Jake is just trying to make a name for himself.”

Despite Tyson’s praise for Paul and recognition of his influence on boxing, Page remains focused on what he sees as a misguided decision by both fighters. As he continues to compete in MMA events around the world, Page plans to continue using his platform to speak out against what he sees as senseless violence in sports.
