New Adaptive Program Center for Disabled Athletes Opens at National Sports Center in Colorado

The NSCD Adaptive Program Center recently opened its doors at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, with a Field Day event attended by over 100 Aurora Public School students, representatives from The Hartford, Move United, Jefferson County Officials, and Denver Broncos alumni. During the event, students had the chance to participate in various activities such as an obstacle course, archery, and try out adaptive cycles as part of the launch of the new adaptive program.

The NSCD received a $50,000 grant from The Hartford to purchase new adaptive cycles for the program. Julie Taulman, president and CEO of the NSCD, expressed her excitement about the new location of the program center. She emphasized that it provides a safe and convenient space for people to enjoy outdoor activities while socializing with others and trying out different sports and activities. The center offers 100 acres of land with easy access to miles of trails for programs and lessons offered during the spring, summer, and fall.

Overall, the NSCD’s new Adaptive Program Center aims to provide individuals with disabilities an inclusive environment where they can engage in sports and outdoor activities safely.
