Congressman Cohen Announces Over $21 Million in Grants for Memphis Organizations, Boosting Head Start Programs and Improving Community Outcomes

Congressman Cohen reveals $21.3 million in grants from the Department of Health and Human Services.

In Memphis, Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) announced that three organizations will be receiving grants totaling $21,309,797 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Porter-Leath will receive $1,385,603 to operate its Head Start programs, the Shelby County Board of Education will receive $14,553,699 for their Head Start programs, and Memphis Health Center will receive $5,370,495 to support its programs.

Congressman Cohen expressed his satisfaction with the substantial investment from the federal government, particularly highlighting the funding for Head Start programs. These programs help the youngest students prepare for school and navigate the complexities of the world around them.
