Yard Goats Staging Remarkable Comeback to Win Third Straight Game, Leaving Portland Struggling

Bullpen Struggles Persist as Sea Dogs Drop Third Consecutive Game

The Hartford Yard Goats staged a remarkable comeback to win their third straight game, defeating the Portland Sea Dogs 12-5 in an Eastern League matchup in Hartford, Connecticut. Trailing 4-1, the Yard Goats scored five runs in the seventh inning to take the lead. Sterlin Thompson was the standout player of the game, going 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and three RBIs. This victory propelled the Yard Goats into first place in the Northeast Division, leaving Portland struggling to keep up.

Portland had started strongly, with Nick Yorke scoring twice on a two-run double and Matthew Lugo hitting an RBI triple in the third inning. Wikelman Gonzalez pitched well for Portland, striking out eight batters and allowing only one hit through five innings. However, it was ultimately the bullpen that let down the team, leading to the Yard Goats’ impressive comeback.

The Sea Dogs will now face a crucial six-game homestand against the Reading Fightin Phils starting on Tuesday. They will be looking to recover from this tough loss and reclaim their position in the division standings.
