Wharton High School Data Science Competition: Top Six Teams Gear Up for Finals

The Wharton Sports Analytics and Business Initiative (WSABI) is nearing the end of its Wharton High School Data Science Competition: Soccer Playoff Predictions. Over 25 high school teams from various countries have been analyzing data from a simulated professional soccer league since February 2024, with the goal of predicting the outcomes of playoff matches based on their findings.

Out of the 25 semifinalists who submitted slide presentations on March 22, WSABI has selected the top six teams to advance to the competition’s first finals. These finalist teams include CR North from Council Rock North High School in Newtown, Pennsylvania; FC TAMS from Texas Academy of Mathematics & Science in Denton, Texas; HW_AnalyticsFC from Harvard-Westlake School in Studio City, California; MVHS Analytics from Mountain View High School in Mountain View, California; SMGolden State Analytics from Santa Margarita Catholic in Rancho Santa Margarita, California; and STEM Wolves from Downingtown STEM Academy in Downingtown, Pennsylvania.
