Upcoming 12.9-inch iPad Air to Feature MiniLED Display Technology, Like Current 12.9-inch iPad Pro Models

The 12.9-inch iPad Air to feature display technology used in current larger iPad Pro

Ross Young, a well-known analyst from Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), has announced exciting news for those interested in purchasing the upcoming 12.9-inch iPad Air. According to Young, the new larger iPad Air will utilize the same display technology found in the current 12.9-inch iPad Pro model, which means it will feature a MiniLED display.

This news is particularly interesting as MiniLED displays have been well received in recent iPad Pro models and MacBook Pro hardware, offering benefits such as power savings and increased contrast ratio, especially when it comes to watching videos. Unlike LED-backlit LCD panels that struggle to produce true blacks, MiniLED displays are able to achieve this with fewer drawbacks than OLED panels.

In fact, it is expected that both the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models will make the switch to OLED technology for the first time this year. Apple has already incorporated OLED screens into its iPhone and Apple Watch devices, so it’s no surprise that they would be looking at using this technology in their tablets as well.

Given that the 12.9-inch iPad Air is expected to offer a great media consumption experience, it’s shaping up to be an attractive option for consumers, particularly if the price is reasonable. With new iPads rumored to be released in May, potential buyers can look forward to more information about these upcoming devices.
