The 34-year-old reliever Michael Tonkin has been claimed off waivers by the Yankees from the Mets. Tonkin’s journey this season has been tumultuous, with his time on the Mets before being designated for assignment and traded to the Minnesota Twins. However, after just one appearance with the Twins, he was once again DFA’d and ended up back with the Mets. Unfortunately, Tonkin only made two appearances with the Mets before being DFA’d for the third time this season. Despite his struggles, Tonkin has been given a chance by the Yankees and will now be part of their 40-man roster. In order to make room for Tonkin, the Yankees have designated right-handed pitcher McKinley Moore for assignment. Tonkin will now have an opportunity to contribute to the Yankees bullpen and prove his worth at the major league level once again.
