Special Hours & Activities to Celebrate Solar Eclipse at Catawba Science Center

On April 8th from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM, come join us at the Catawba Science Center for a special Eclipse Event where the sun and the moon will be meeting! This free event will have plenty of fun-filled activities for guests to enjoy on the lawn. Additionally, guests can explore the planetarium/aquarium building for a reduced admission price of $5 per person, with members getting in for free.

During a Solar Eclipse, the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth at just the right moment. This upcoming Eclipse on April 8th will be the last Total Solar Eclipse visible from the contiguous United States until 2044. Get ready to witness this amazing phenomenon!

The Eclipse will begin at 1:53 PM with the first contact, as the Moon starts to overlap the edge of the Sun, creating a crescent shape. At 3:11 PM, the Eclipse will reach its maximum point, known as totality, where the Moon covers the entire surface of the Sun. During this phase, you may notice
