Top Helsinki Stock Exchange Stocks with Highest Returns in 2022

The Helsinki Stock Exchange recently released its list of the top ten most popular stocks, with some surprising results. While the number of owners did not necessarily correlate with financial performance, the ranking remained relatively stable, with minor fluctuations in ownership.

One intriguing outcome was that the stock that experienced the largest decline in ownership had the best returns at the start of the year. On the other hand, a stock that had fallen significantly in the past year attracted many new investors. Nordea, a banking group, has held its spot as the most owned stock for several years and saw an increase of 5,400 owners at the beginning of 2021 due to strong financial results.

Neste, an oil refining company, had the worst annual return among popular stocks with a 32% drop in share price. Despite this, they managed to attract over 15,000 new owners at the beginning of 2021. Fortum moved into third place on the list of most owned stocks and surpassed Mandatum, while Kesko replaced Wärtsilä on this list.
