Sri Lanka crushes Scotland in T20 World Cup qualifier

Sri Lanka scored a 10-wicket victory against Scotland in the Women’s T20 World Cup qualifier in Abu Dhabi. Scotland was bowled out for just 94 runs in 18.1 overs, with Kavisha Dilhari taking four wickets for 13 runs and Inoshi Priyadharshani claiming three wickets for 11 runs.

In response, Sri Lanka chased down the target of 95 runs in just 10.1 overs, thanks to captain Chamari Athapaththu’s unbeaten 59 off 35 balls. Scotland will now face the United States and Thailand in their next matches. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, with the eventual finalists securing a spot at the Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh later this year.

The tournament features teams from Ireland, Zimbabwe, the Netherlands, United Arab Emirates, and Vanuatu in Group B. The final will take place on May 7th, following the semi-finals on May 5th. Scotland will now look to bounce back in their upcoming matches and secure a spot in the knockout stages of the tournament.
