Spotify Takes a Page from TikTok with New Song Remixing Feature!

Spotify is experimenting with a new remix feature inspired by TikTok, according to reports from Technology News

Spotify is currently working on a new feature that takes inspiration from TikTok, allowing users to remix songs. The Wall Street Journal reported recently that the music streaming platform is developing tools that will enable users to edit songs from their favorite artists by “speeding up, mashing up, and otherwise editing” them. These remixed songs can then be saved for later listening.

Although discussions about the tools are still in the early stages and licensing agreements are being finalized, screenshots shared with TechCrunch reveal different mixing tools that will allow users to showcase their DJ skills, set the vibe for their mix by filtering songs by genres, activities, moods, and more.

The new mixing tools will offer options to blend tracks seamlessly, switch between tracks for a high impact, and insert and edit transitions between tracks. Users will also have the ability to change parameters like beats per minute and danceability. In addition to catering to experienced subscribers, Spotify’s new features will include tools that automatically arrange tracks with similar keys, tempos, and styles together.

Sped-up remixes of songs have become increasingly popular in recent years, with TikTok’s year-end report for 2023 indicating that they were among the most popular on the app. While Spotify’s music editing features are still in development, it remains uncertain when and if Spotify will make these features available to all users.
