Raising Awareness: The Calvert County Community Comes Together for Children’s Mental Health Week

Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week: Chalk the Walk in Southern Maryland May 6-11, 2024

During Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week from May 5-11, residents of Calvert County are invited to participate in the “Chalk the Walk” event at various public locations. The event, organized by the Calvert County Family Network (CCFN) and Department of Parks & Recreation, in collaboration with local organizations and businesses, aims to raise awareness for children’s mental health.

Participants can use chalk to create drawings, positive messages, and words of encouragement on designated public sidewalks or their own property. The goal is to promote awareness, reduce stigma, and facilitate open conversations about children’s mental health and overall well-being. To engage with the community and share their artwork, residents can use the hashtag #CalvertMentalHealthMatters on social media.

Several drop-in chalk events will be held at locations such as the Calvert County Circuit Courthouse, Calvert Library branches, CalvertHealth Medical Center, Calvert County Behavioral Health locations, Calvert County Parks & Recreation Community Centers, and the Community Resources Building in Prince Frederick.

Calvert County offers numerous resources for youth and families dealing with mental health issues.
