Pickleball: A Surprising Professional Sport

Major League Pickleball (MLP) is the organization that brings together the top-ranked men and women players to compete in team-based competitions. With 24 teams split into two levels, the Premier Level consisting of 48 top players divided among 12 cities, and the Challenger Level for up-and-coming players, MLP provides a platform for professional pickleball players to showcase their skills and compete at a high level.

The Orlando Squeeze is one of the teams in the Premier Level, based in Orlando. Recently, they drafted a new team which includes players like Federico Stakstrud, Vivienne David, Parris Todd, and Tyson McGuffin. The first MLP event of 2024 is set to take place in Atlanta from May 9-12, and more information about tickets and the upcoming schedule can be found on the MLP website.

According to MLP, professional pickleball is a growing sport that provides opportunities for players to showcase their skills and compete at a high level. The Devos Family established the Orlando Squeeze in 2023 and now owns both the Orlando Magic National Basketball Association Franchise and professional pickleball team.
