Near-Drowning Incident at Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark Prompts State Health Department Investigation

Over the weekend, a near-drowning incident occurred at Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark in Queensbury, New York. A 5-year-old child was found unresponsive in the water and was transported to a nearby hospital. Thankfully, the child is currently in stable condition.

Drowning incidents at regulated bathing facilities in New York are typically investigated by local health departments or state district offices. In this particular case, the New York State Department of Health’s Glens Falls District Office is handling the investigation. No further details can be provided at this time.

Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark has been in operation since 2006 and is owned by Six Flags. The response to the incident involving the child was carried out with the assistance of West Glens Falls EMS, Queensbury Central Fire, and the New York State Police, in addition to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. The state health department’s investigation will determine the cause of the incident and any necessary actions to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
