Minnesota Sports Hall of Fame: “Hoops and Hockey Class” Celebrates Legendary Athletes in Star Tribune’s Latest Inductees

Minnesota Sports Hall of Fame inducts Gigi Marvin, Neal Broten, Willie Burton, and Larry McKenzie

The latest class of Minnesota Sports Hall of Famers, dubbed as the “hoops and hockey class,” were honored at the Wild game on April 6. The Xcel Energy Center crowd erupted in cheers for hockey legends Gigi Marvin and Neal Broten, as well as basketball greats Larry McKenzie and Willie Burton.

In attendance at the game were Jade Hill, who accepted the Hall of Fame trophy on behalf of her sister Tayler, who set state basketball scoring records at Minneapolis South. Also present was Gaabi Boucha, grandson of Warroad legend Henry Boucha.

Unfortunately, Class of 2023 inductees Cheryl Reeve and Phil Housley were unable to attend the game. Reeve was at the women’s Final Four while Housley was working as an assistant coach with the New York Rangers. Reeve will be honored at a Minnesota Lynx game at Target Center later this season.
