Miami Dolphins Prepare for NFL Draft with Various Picks and Top Needs: Improving Offensive Line, Tight End, Cornerback, and Defensive Line

Guide to the NFL Draft: Dolphins must prioritize shielding Tua Tagovailoa and bolstering defense

The Miami Dolphins finished the 2023 season with a record of 11-6 but lost in the wild-card round. As they look towards the upcoming NFL Draft, they have draft picks in various rounds, including the 1st round (No. 21), 2nd round (No. 55), 5th round (No. 158), two picks in the 6th round (No. 184 and No. 198), and a 7th round pick (No. 241).

Heading into the draft, the Dolphins have identified their top needs as improving the offensive line, tight end position, cornerback depth, and defensive line strength. They specifically want to protect their quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, better along the offensive line and add youth to their cornerback position. Losing Christian Wilkins to the Raiders has also left a gap in the defensive line that needs to be filled.

In terms of potential draft picks, players like Graham Barton from Duke, Amarius Mims from Georgia, and Terrion Arnold from Alabama are seen as good fits for the Dolphins in the first round. On Day 2 of the draft, players like Ja’Tavion Sanders from Texas, Ennis Rakestraw Jr. from Missouri, and Zach Frazier from West Virginia could be targeted by Miami.

Reflecting on their performance in last year’s draft, the Dolphins only selected four players but earned a B grade
