Local Criminal Caught Stealing Bullets, Causes Damage to Emergency Exit in Chesterfield Township

Macomb Man Accused of Theft: Bullets Stolen from Dunham’s Sports – Macomb Daily

This week, the Dunham’s Sports store on Gratiot Avenue and 23 Mile Road in Chesterfield Township became the site of a crime. A man from Macomb Township is accused of stealing hundreds of dollars worth of bullets from the store and causing damage to an emergency exit while trying to escape. The 26-year-old man, identified as Erik Bronkowski, was arraigned on charges including possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, assaulting a police officer, second-degree retail fraud, and malicious destruction of property.

According to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office, Bronkowski made off with over $700 worth of ammunition from the Dunham’s Sports on Gratiot Avenue in Chesterfield Township. He fled from an employee without attempting to pay for the items and broke an emergency exit during his escape. If convicted on the charge related to ammunition possession, Bronkowski could face up to five years in prison as he is being charged as a habitual fourth offender.

The prosecutor emphasized that offenses involving ammunition are serious and can have severe consequences if they are committed by individuals who are not legally allowed to possess them. Court records show that Bronkowski has had previous run-ins with the law, including serving time in jail for armed robbery in Shelby Township and possession of methamphetamine. The outcome of this latest case will depend on the evidence presented in court.
