Legacy of Wellness: DuBois Health Food Center Celebrates 60 Years in Carson City

Carson’s DuBois Health Food Center Celebrates 60 Years of Success

In 1964, Phil DuBois took a risk on health foods and vitamins by opening the first DuBois Health Food Center in a small closet in his massage shop on Corbett Street in Carson City. Over the next several decades, the store changed locations and grew in size but always remained within the DuBois family. After Phil’s passing in 2017, his wife Judy ran the store until her health issues made it difficult to manage. Their grandson, Justin Justus, stepped in to help with operations, marking the fourth generation of the DuBois business.

On May 1, 2024, DuBois Health Food Center celebrated its 60th anniversary in business. Judy DuBois spoke about the importance of the store to her family and its connection to the people of Carson City. Despite facing challenges such as losing customers during a move to a new location and competition from large chain stores, Justin remains confident that their focus on quality herbs and vitamins will enable them to continue thriving. The store is located at 1851 N. Carson St., just south of Butler Meats, and is open Tuesday through Saturday for more information call 775-882-2451. For six decades now, this health-focused center has stood strong in Carson City providing much-needed products and services that have helped many people achieve better health outcomes.
