L3Harris Sells Antenna and Test Equipment Businesses to Single-Family Office for $200 Million in Cash and Note

L3Harris secures family office to obtain antenna business

Kanders & Co., a single-family office owned by Warren B. Kanders, has announced the acquisition of L3Harris Technologies’ antenna and test equipment businesses for $200 million. The deal includes $175 million in cash and a $25 million seller note, with the transaction expected to close in the current quarter.

The acquired businesses will be used to establish Fisica, a new defense electronics company that specializes in electronic warfare and communications. With its product portfolio and customer relationships, Fisica is expected to have significant growth potential.

L3Harris currently employs around 375 people through these businesses, which are part of its space and airborne systems segment. They specialize in manufacturing airborne and ground-based antennas and test equipment. The sale of these businesses is part of L3Harris’ ongoing efforts to reshape its portfolio following recent acquisitions of Aerojet Rocketdyne and a secure data product business from Viasat in 2023.

Overall, L3Harris has been actively restructuring its portfolio by selling off assets while acquiring new ones to align with its long-term strategy. This strategic move represents an opportunity for L3Harris to focus on core areas of growth within the defense electronics industry.
