Instagram Promotes Original Content from Small Creators by Updating its Content Recommendation System

Instagram enhances its recommendation system to prioritize original content from emerging creators.

Instagram is making updates to its content recommendation system in order to promote original content from small creators. The company has decided to remove recommendations from aggregators, which are accounts that repost content from other creators without adding value. Instead, the algorithm will prioritize original content, especially from small accounts, to increase visibility. This change will be accompanied by tags identifying republished content and linking back to the original creators. Accounts that repeatedly repost content without adding value will no longer appear in recommendations.

In addition to changes in the algorithm, Instagram has also implemented a new system for recommending reels. Instead of solely relying on user engagement, the platform will now expand distribution to different audiences based on performance. The best-performing videos will be shown to a wider audience, creating a snowball effect.

The goal of these changes is to promote original content and improve the overall user experience on the platform. While these updates were announced on Tuesday, they will be rolled out gradually over the coming months.
