Innovative Creative Arts Day at Virginia Tech: Discovering the Latest Transdisciplinary Projects and Experiences

The Intersection of Creativity, Arts, and Technology

Last Monday, Virginia Tech’s Moss Arts Center hosted the 12th annual ICAT Day, which aimed to connect the public with the latest creative and innovative works of students and faculty members. More than two dozen different experiences and projects from transdisciplinary courses, projects affiliated with ICAT, and community projects were showcased. These projects covered a wide range of topics including artificial intelligence, immersive environments, neuroscience, sculpture, dance, music, and game design.

During the event, graduate student Rebecca Steele demonstrated aerial circus hoop movements in the front courtyard of the Moss Arts Center. Ariel Circus is described as a fun, inclusive low-impact activity that focuses on flexibility, movement, strength and confidence. Steele shared that this activity was introduced to more than 40 students at Moss in February. Additionally, graduate student Norr Tasnim described a display titled “Epiphany Machine” at the Moss Arts Center during ICAT Day. The event provided a platform for students and faculty to showcase their creative and innovative projects to a wider audience.
