The Houston Texans had a strong draft, receiving a grade of B. Although they did not have a first-round pick, they were able to secure quality players including a starting nickel corner and a developmental offensive tackle. The first four picks have the potential to make immediate contributions, which is all you can ask for without a first-day pick. While this draft may not have been as flashy as last year’s, which landed them C.J. Stroud and Will Anderson Jr., it will help strengthen the team’s foundation.
One standout pick from the draft was Kamari Lassiter, a cornerback from Georgia who was selected 42nd overall. Lassiter is a physical corner with elite short-area quickness and strong tackling ability. Although his lack of long speed may limit him to the slot in the NFL, he adds depth to the Texans’ talented defensive backfield.
On the other hand, Blake Fisher, an offensive tackle from Notre Dame who was selected 59th overall, was not as highly regarded as some of the other picks. Fisher has the potential to develop into a great player but faces a steep learning curve early in his career. However, he has the talent to be a huge boom pick for the Texans in the future.
