Grandma Plank: Alberta Mother Sets World Record for Longest Female Plank

Elderly Woman Achieves World Record by Holding Plank Position for 4.5 Hours

In Alberta, Canada, a 58-year-old mother of five and grandmother of 12 recently made headlines for breaking the world record for the longest plank. DonnaJean Wilde set a new record for holding the longest plank for a female with an impressive time of 4 hours, 30 minutes, and 11 seconds, according to Guinness World Records.

Wilde’s journey with planking began twelve years ago when she broke her wrist and discovered that she could still perform the exercise with a cast on. She fell in love with planking as she realized she could multitask and do other activities while maintaining her form. In preparation for the record-breaking plank, Wilde reportedly held a plank for five to six hours every day, broken down into two to three hour blocks.

Surrounded by loved ones during the event, Wilde focused on breathing, staying calm and maintaining her form during the last thirty minutes which she said was the most challenging hour. Despite the difficulty, Wilde found it overwhelming and dreamlike to set the world record after years of planking. She encouraged others with similar goals to keep trying and practicing, incorporating planking into their daily routine whenever possible.

In May 2023, Josef Šálek from Czechia broke another world record by setting the longest plank time for men with an astounding time of 9 hours, 38 minutes and 47 seconds according to Guinness World Records.
