Last month, a man from Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England, was arrested for carrying a replica of Link’s Master Sword from the video game “The Legend of Zelda” with a real blade in public. Anthony Bray was sentenced to four months in prison after officers spotted him walking down the street with the Master Sword on June 8. The “sword,” which was slightly larger than a knife, had a real blade, which is against U.K. law.
Bray explained to officers that he had bought the replica Master Sword online intending to use it as a stress reliever to keep his hands busy and had no intention of using it as a weapon. However, carrying a blade in public was still a breach of the law regardless of his intentions. The Warwickshire Police Sergeant emphasized that Bray could have avoided the situation by being more aware and avoiding walking down the street with the sword in plain sight.
In addition to the prison sentence, Bray will also be fined £154 (around €180). The incident highlights the importance of understanding and adhering to the laws regarding bladed articles in public spaces. It serves as a reminder that even seemingly harmless items can have serious consequences if not handled responsibly.
