Top US Cities Attracting Population Growth, with Florida Metros Leading the Way

Florida cities are proving to be popular destinations for movers from across the US, as a recent study by Business Insider revealed. Eight Florida cities were among the top 12 metros with positive net domestic migration rates, led by Wildwood-The Villages, which had the highest rate per 1,000 people.

Business Insider analyzed US metros with the most positive net domestic migration, referring to areas where more people were moving in than out from different locations in the US. The latest data from the Census Bureau for the period of July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023 showed that Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, Texas had the highest positive net domestic migration among metros, followed by Houston-Pasadena-The Woodlands in Texas and Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater in Florida.

When taking into account metro population sizes as of July 1, 2022, Wildwood-The Villages stood out with a thriving net domestic migration rate. Despite having a net domestic migration value of 8,684, the rate per 1,000 people was around 60, the highest among metros.
