Fast X Director Louis Leterrier Takes on Sci-Fi Horror Film 11817 with Resourceful Family at Its Core

Louis Leterrier to Direct Sci-Fi Horror Film ‘11817’ as it Launches Sales at Cannes

Louis Leterrier, known for directing Fast X, is set to direct and produce the sci-fi horror film 11817. The script has been written by Matthew Robinson, who penned The Invention of Lying. The movie follows a family of four who are mysteriously trapped inside their house forever. As they run low on both modern luxuries and life essentials, the family must learn to be resourceful in order to survive and outsmart whoever or whatever is keeping them captive.

Casting is currently underway for the film, which will be produced by Leterrier’s Carrousel Studios, Rocket Science, Thank You Studios, Chernin Entertainment, and 3 Arts Entertainment. Several producers are involved in the project, including Leterrier himself, Thomas Benski, Omar Sy, Lars Sylvest, Kori Adelson, Oly Obst, Thorsten Schumacher, and Joe Neurauter. Cecile Gaget is executive producing for Carrousel Studios. Rocket Science will finance the project and handle foreign sales while CAA Media Finance will represent domestic rights.

Leterrier is excited about the project and expressed that audience engagement with characters is always his top priority regardless of their complexity or flaws. He has an impressive track record as a director having previously directed blockbuster films such as Fast X, Now You See Me and The Incredible Hulk as well as television shows like Netflix’s Lupin and The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. Currently attached to direct the final film in the Fast & Furious franchise.

Rocket Science’s Cannes slate for this year includes Ali Abbasi’s Donald Trump film The Apprentice and Cliffhanger alongside 11817. Leterrier is represented by CAA Entertainment 360/LBI, Sloan Offer Weber & Dern in France while Robinson is represented by CAA Entertainment 360/LBI in France along with Ziffren Brittenham agency.
