Breaking Down Barriers: Indiana’s Recycling Market Development Program Offers $500,000 in Grant Funding for Sustainable Projects

Funding now accessible to enhance Indiana’s recycling economy

In Indiana, the Recycling Market Development Program (RMDP) is currently accepting grant proposals ranging from $50,000 to $500,000 for recycling projects in the state. Businesses, local governments, solid waste management districts, higher education institutions, and nonprofit organizations are all encouraged to apply.

To be eligible for the grant, applicants must focus on sustainability and understanding the changing economy for recyclers. Proposals should demonstrate economic impact, increased public awareness through outreach and education efforts, and achieve at least one of the following outcomes: an increase in the amount of recyclable material collected or used, a reduction in municipal solid waste sent for final disposal, or improved partnerships with communities.

The deadline for submitting proposals is June 13. Projects that meet these criteria will be considered by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM), which administers RMDP grants. Final funding decisions will be made in the fall.

Interested parties can visit the RMDP website for more information on eligibility requirements, project guidelines, and how to apply. Additional assistance is also available by calling 800-988-7901 or emailing RMDPGrants@idem.IN.gov. The RMDP aims to expand recycling in Indiana through increased markets, manufacturing capacity, and job creation while promoting sustainability and reducing waste in our environment.
