BayCare Health System Expands into Manatee County with $548 Million Hospital and Outpatient Facility

BayCare Announces Plans for First Hospital in Manatee County

BayCare Health System is set to open its 17th hospital in the Tampa Bay region, a $548 million facility located on Moccasin Wallow Road in Manatee County. The 154-bed hospital will offer a range of services, including emergency care, orthopedic and specialty surgery, urology, gastroenterology, cardiology, obstetrics, and neonatology.

Construction is set to begin in October with the goal of providing high-quality and compassionate care to the community. The hospital will also house a 45,000-square-foot building for outpatient services and physician offices.

BayCare Hospital Manatee will be the first nonprofit-owned hospital in the area and will be built north of the Manatee River. This marks a significant milestone for the region as other hospitals in the county are owned by for-profit organizations such as Universal Health Services and HCA Health Care. BayCare’s expansion into Manatee County underscores its commitment to serving the evolving healthcare needs of West Central Florida.

The new hospital will provide access to advanced medical services and a commitment to community health for residents in the Tampa Bay area. BayCare’s ongoing investment in healthcare infrastructure highlights its mission to provide exceptional care to residents across the region.
