In the upcoming years, Aspo plans to create two separate companies, Aspo Compounder and Aspo Infra. The stock market did not have a clear direction on Tuesday as it had been heavily influenced by the weak numbers published by large companies in the United States and Europe. However, the most anticipated market event of the week is still expected to be the announcement of US consumer inflation figures for April.
On Tuesday, the OMXH general index of the Helsinki stock exchange opened with a slight decrease of 0.02 percent at 10,310 points. The most traded stocks included Nokia, Nordea, Sampo and Fortum, which were all declining or mixed on Tuesday. Martela’s turnover and profit figures fell short of expectations due to weak demand in the record industry caused by reduced volumes and increased costs. The summer season is expected to stimulate demand for lumber but supply remains lower than normal. Analysts expect Koskinen’s turnover to increase in the current quarter but profit in the third quarter only.
Martela’s numbers were lower than expected even though it was already a weak comparison season. The operating loss increased from the comparison period despite Inderes having predicted it would decrease clearly. Turnover also fell more than expected according to Ville Taipalee, Managing Director of Martela who blamed uncertainty in economic situation affecting purchase decisions of customers as precautionary measure. Multidisciplinary company Asp (+2.7%) reported a big upheaval in morning session while other current subsidiaries ESL Shipping would belong to Aspo Infra and Telko and The Baker would belong to Aspo Compounder will be differentiated based on their business models including growth investments, business time spans financing needs and ESG goals among others things that are yet undecided how they will be differentiated with implementation selected strategies as mentioned above
