A Star in the Kicking World: Tory Taylor’s Unusual Rise in the NFL Draft

Chicago Bears snag punter Tory Taylor from Iowa in 4th round of NFL Draft

Tory Taylor, the standout punter for the Iowa Hawkeyes, was picked up by the Chicago Bears in the fourth round of this year’s NFL Draft. The selection of a punter so early in the draft is notable as kickers and punters are not usually taken as high. However, Taylor’s outstanding performance and accolades made him a deserving pick for the Bears.

Taylor set a single-season record for punting yards and won the Ray Guy Award for being the best punter in college football. His consistent ability to punt well despite his team’s offensive challenges that often resulted in three-and-outs was impressive.

The Bears recognized the value of having a strong punter and were willing to invest in securing Taylor, knowing they were getting a player with exceptional skills and a track record of success. Along with Taylor, two other punters were also taken in the fourth round of this year’s draft, further highlighting their importance on a team.
