Zlatan Ibrahimovic Takes the Reins: Milan’s New Striker and Director-General Announces New Coach, Plays Key Role in Club’s Future

Ibrahimovic set to host his first press conference with Milan

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the former striker with two spells at San Siro, is set to hold his first press conference on Thursday morning. During this conference, he will not only announce the new coach, Paulo Fonseca, but also take on a more prominent role within the club.

Ibrahimovic retired as a player and became a ‘special advisor’ to RedBird chief Gerry Cardinale in December 2023. However, his specific role within the club hierarchy has not been clear. This press conference indicates that he is involved in dictating the club’s future strategy.

Reporters have been invited to attend the press conference at 11.45am local time on Thursday, where it is expected that Fonseca will be officially announced as the new coach of Milan. Directors Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada are not expected to be present at the press conference, placing more focus on Ibrahimovic as the face of the club.

Ibrahimovic made 163 competitive appearances for Milan, scoring 93 goals and providing 34 assists. He won two Serie A titles and the Italian Super Cup with the club. This press conference marks a significant moment for Ibrahimovic and Milan as they begin a new chapter under his leadership.
