During the recent G7 summit, President Zelenskyy expressed his anticipation for significant decisions to be made. Apart from discussing Ukraine’s defense and economic resilience, he would also sign security agreements with Japan and the United States. The G7 countries have agreed to provide a $50 billion loan to Ukraine by taking future interest from approximately $300 billion in frozen Russian assets, as announced by a senior US official.

Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the G7 nations have been crucial supporters of Ukraine both militarily and financially. President Zelenskyy emphasized the significance of the summit in addressing Ukraine’s needs and expressed hope for impactful outcomes.

Apart from the agreements with Japan and the US, Ukraine has signed numerous similar deals with Western allies to secure funding and bolster its defense capabilities. Zelenskyy highlighted the unprecedented nature of the upcoming security agreement with the United States.
