First call-up for Republic of Ireland player handed to Cannon

At 21 years old, Tom Cannon has already made an impact for Leicester City and earned one cap with the Republic of Ireland Under-21 team. This achievement has earned him his first call-up to the senior squad for upcoming friendlies against Hungary and Portugal.

John O’Shea took over as interim manager following the unavailability of some players for previous friendlies, and he has recalled Liam Scales and Troy Parrott to join Cannon in the squad. Other notable inclusions in the squad include Shane Duffy, despite facing legal issues, and new goalkeepers Max O’Leary and Fleetwood Town.

The upcoming friendlies against Hungary and Portugal will provide an opportunity for the Republic of Ireland team to showcase their talent and work towards future success. The squad assembled for these games boasts a mix of experienced players and emerging talents, highlighting the depth of talent within Irish football.
