Yankees Start the Season on a Strong Note, But LeMahieu and Cole Face Injury Woes

The New York Yankees have started the season with a record of 12-5, showing a promising beginning. Despite this, infielder DJ LeMahieu has been placed on the injured list due to a bone bruise on his foot from a foul ball in spring training. However, LeMahieu anticipates playing just a few games in the minors before rejoining the Yankees at the major league level. Manager Aaron Boone confirmed that LeMahieu will likely be rehabbing with the Somerset team, but it remains to be seen if he will need more than five games to recover fully.

On another note, Gerrit Cole, the Yankees’ ace pitcher, is continuing to progress in his recovery from right elbow inflammation. Cole was placed on the 60-day injured list and is ineligible to return until at least May 27. However, Cole himself is aiming for June 1 as his target date to resume pitching for the team. In his absence, Oswaldo Cabrera has impressed with his performance so far. Cabrera has a batting average of .292, an on-base percentage of .346, and a slugging percentage of .521. He has hit three home runs and driven in 12 runs for the team.
