Giancarlo Stanton was forced to leave the New York Yankees game against the Atlanta Braves on Saturday night due to a left hamstring injury he sustained while running the bases in the sixth inning. Despite manager Aaron Boone saying Stanton was in good spirits after the game, the Yankees placed him on the 10-day injured list the following morning due to a left hamstring strain. Infielder Oswald Peraza was called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take Stanton’s spot on the 26-man roster.

Stanton, who has hit 18 home runs this season, is tied for second on the Yankees’ roster with Juan Soto. He has mainly played as a designated hitter and has a .246 batting average and .795 OPS.
