Wright State University Appoints Healthcare Leader Jill Wilson to its Board of Trustees as Part of Enhanced Affiliation with Premier Health

Chair of Premier Health Appointed as Ex-Officio Trustee of Wright State University

Jill Wilson, the board chair at Premier Health and president and CEO of Otterbein SeniorLife, has been appointed by the Wright State University Board of Trustees to serve as a non-voting, national trustee on Wright State’s board as part of the new 30-year affiliation agreement between the two organizations.

The affiliation agreement includes all of Wright State’s colleges and academic programs and all of Premier Health’s sites of care. Premier Health will pay Wright State $10 million in the first year and $15 million in the second year of the agreement to increase the class size at Wright State’s Boonshoft School of Medicine and invest in Wright State’s nursing program.

Wilson expressed her excitement to continue working with Wright State and the university’s trustees, stating her belief that the two organizations will achieve remarkable things through their collaboration. The enhanced affiliation agreement builds on a partnership that has been in place since the 1970s, enabling Wright State and Premier Health to qualify for more research grants and add new disciplines to their organizations.

As part of this updated affiliation, Miami Valley Hospital is now formally recognized as an academic medical center. The hospital system expects new opportunities for growth and access to additional federal funding to bring physician residency programs to Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy and Atrium Medical Center in Middletown. This move is expected to further strengthen both institutions’ ability to provide high-quality healthcare services to patients in southwestern Ohio.
