Seattle Storm extend contract of All-Star player Ezi Magbegor

Seattle Storm forward Ezi Magbegor has signed a contract extension with the team, announced on Tuesday. In her fifth season with Seattle, Magbegor is leading the WNBA in blocks per game and is a standout player for the team. At 13.6 points, 8.6 rebounds and three blocks per game, she is proving herself as a core player in the championship pursuit of the team.

Magbegor was drafted by Seattle in the first round in 2019 but did not make her WNBA debut until 2020. Since then, she has been named to the second-team all-WNBA defensive team twice and was named an All-Star for the first time last year. The General manager Talisa Rhea expressed excitement about Magbegor staying with the team, calling her “a star in the league and a core part of our championship pursuit.”

At just 24 years old, Magbegor has also been a key player for Australia in qualifying for the upcoming Olympics in Paris. She was named tournament MVP for FIBA Olympic qualifying tournament in Brazil earlier this year. The terms of Magbegor’s contract were not disclosed by the team.
