The Wisconsin Badgers women’s hockey team suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to Ohio State in the NCAA championship game. Despite this setback, the team has reason to be excited as five players have been selected to represent the United States at the upcoming International Ice Hockey Federation women’s world championships in Utica, New York from April 3-14.
Among the players chosen are forwards Britta Curl, Lacey Eden, Laila Edwards, and Kirstin Simms, along with defender Caroline Harvey. In addition to these current Badgers players, former UW star Hilary Knight will also join the team at the world championships. The coaching staff includes Neenah native John Wroblewski, with former UW captain Sis Paulsen serving as the equipment manager.
This marks Edwards and Simms’ debut at the world championships, while Curl, Eden, and Harvey have represented the United States before. Harvey has an impressive resume with a silver medal from the 2022 Olympics and gold and silver medals from previous world championships. Eden and Curl also have multiple world championship appearances under their belts.
As they prepare for competition at the highest level of women’s hockey, these Wisconsin players will bring with them their experience and determination gained from their time with the Badgers. This is an opportunity for them to showcase their strength and talent on an international stage while representing their country with pride.
