An 8-year-old Pekingese named Wild Thang has been crowned the World’s Ugliest Dog at the Sonoma Marin County Fair in Petaluma, Calif. This marks his fourth attempt at the title, having finished in second place three times before finally winning the crown. Rome, a 14-year-old pug, was the runner-up and also won the People’s Choice award. Rome’s owner, Michelle Grady, described him as very personable and a crowd favorite.
The competition featured a total of eight contestants, with Wild Thang ultimately taking home a trophy and $5,000 prize. The event was held on Friday, June 21, 2024 at the Sonoma Marin County Fair. Despite their unconventional looks, all the dogs showcased their unique personalities and charm throughout the contest. The World’s Ugliest Dog competition continues to be a beloved tradition that celebrates diversity and acceptance among pets of all shapes and sizes.
