In response to the increase in cases, the health department is urging individuals to get vaccinated for whooping cough. Data from the Centers for Disease Control shows that unvaccinated children are at a significantly higher risk of contracting the disease. Dr. Megan Edwards, the Public Health Officer at KCHD, emphasized the importance of protecting infants who are most vulnerable to severe complications.
