WhatsApp Introduces Chat Filters for Enhanced User Interface and Organization

How do chat filters work on WhatsApp?

WhatsApp, a popular messaging app owned by Meta, is introducing a new feature to improve the organization and accessibility of its user interface. Dubbed “chat filters,” this update splits the home screen into three distinct sections: All, Unread, and Groups. This feature aims to help users manage and access conversations more efficiently.

Chat filters are designed to separate chat types from one another, making it easier for users to find and keep track of their messages. The three categories introduced include Everyone, Unread, and Groups. The Everyone section contains all conversations, both individual and group chats, sorted by the most recent message. The Unread section shows only unread messages sorted by the most recent message. Lastly, the Groups section displays only group conversations read or unread, organized by the time of the last message.

A Meta spokesperson stated that chat filters are intended to help people stay organized and find important conversations quickly. This feature will be available in the latest version of WhatsApp, which may take some time for everyone to receive. Users can update their app manually or wait for an automatic update if they don’t upgrade immediately.
