West Sacramento’s Sutter Health Park: A Beloved Tradition for Independence Day Celebrations

11th Annual Fourth on the Field Fireworks Show Hosted by Sutter Health Park

West Sacramento’s Sutter Health Park was abuzz on Thursday evening as eager spectators flocked to the gates for a front-row view of the annual Fourth on the Field celebration. Holli Wood, accompanied by her children, arrived early to claim their prime spots in the shade and avoid the crowds that were sure to follow.

The ballpark, home of the River Cats, hosted its 11th annual Independence Day away game before the fireworks display. Attendees enjoyed live music from Sacramento’s Dunsbar Road, shopped with local vendors, and sampled offerings from food trucks. To beat the heat, Dinger’s splash pad and cooling tent were open, along with plenty of spots to grab a cold treat.

Val Gomez, who was attending for the first time instead of hosting a family fireworks show, emphasized the importance of celebrating independence and family on this special day. The event recognized and thanked service members for their contributions. Across town at Drake’s at the Barn, another watch party was held for those looking to catch a glimpse of the spectacular display from a different vantage point.

With no City of Sacramento fireworks due to the pandemic, West Sacramento’s riverfront display has quickly become a beloved tradition for many families looking to spend time together while celebrating freedom on this special day.
