The West Ottawa Panthers recently hosted their annual signing celebration day, where 23 senior athletes who have committed to playing sports at the college level were recognized for their achievements. One standout athlete, Chelsea Overbeek, a three-sport star, signed to play basketball at Alma College. Overbeek helped lead the Panthers to the regional finals and was named honorable mention all-state.
Several other athletes also signed commitments to continue their sports careers at the collegiate level. Miss Basketball winner Gabby Reynolds signed with George Washington, swimmer Kalyna Pyk signed with Toledo, track athlete Quinten Tirado committed to the University of Detroit Mercy, and Lydia Tubbergen will cheer at Western Michigan.
In addition to Division II commitments, there were also several athletes who committed to Division III schools. Elliot Dozeman will play tennis at Hope, Tyler Berens will play lacrosse at Hope, Eli Armstrong will play lacrosse at Baldwin-Wallace, and many others have committed to various schools for their respective sports.
Overall, the signing celebration day was a time to honor the hard work and dedication of the West Ottawa athletes as they continue their athletic careers at the college level.
