The Washington Capitals goaltender, Charlie Lindgren, has been selected to represent the United States at the 2024 IIHF World Championship in Czechia. The announcement was made by president and general manager Brian MacLellan today.
Lindgren, a 30-year-old native of Lakeville, Minnesota, had an impressive season with the Capitals. During the season, he recorded a 25-16-7 record with a 2.67 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage. He also had six shutouts in 50 games. His strong performance earned him a spot on the U.S. team for the upcoming championship.
Throughout the season, Lindgren set several career highs, including games played and starts. He tied for the League lead in shutouts and ranked among the top goaltenders in save percentage and goals-against average. Lindgren was a key player for Washington during their final regular-season games with 12 wins and three shutouts in a span of 22 games.
