War on the Middle Class: Prepaid Medicine Price Increases Spark Controversy in Argentina’s Healthcare Sector

Accusations of Cartelization: Milei Government Targets Prepaid Companies Following Caputo’s Tweet

The controversy surrounding Minister of Economy Luis Caputo’s statement that prepaid medicine companies have declared “war on the middle class” with price increases has escalated, prompting the government to issue a warning about cartelization in the sector. Presidential spokesman Manuel Adorni emphasized that while the government promotes deregulation and freedom, they will not tolerate harmful behavior that harms citizens.

Caputo had previously criticized prepaid companies for raising prices after deregulation, and this is the second time in a short span that he has done so. President Javier Milei also expressed concerns about the increases, emphasizing that the government is working to address the issue without resorting to force.

The ongoing dispute over prepaid prices has led to four consecutive double-digit increases this month. Private medicine prices have risen by more than 100% since the beginning of the year, with anger from Minister of Economy and questions from Casa Rosada highlighting these significant hikes. The government is working to address these increases while also dealing with price hikes in other sectors such as gas and water services.

Meanwhile, businesses are increasingly turning to new construction projects that prioritize energy efficiency and sustainability. The Blower Door Test, which optimizes energy efficiency in new buildings, has gained attention in this area. This test plays a crucial role in enhancing building performance and improving air quality, making it an essential tool for businesses seeking to reduce costs and improve sustainability.
