Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux in Wilmington Closes Permanently: Leaving Employees and Customers Heartbroken

The Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux location in Wilmington, North Carolina has permanently closed, according to a note posted on the front door. The restaurant, which first opened on July 1, 2021, was operated by franchisee Jason Sadowski. This closure marks the third location he has shut down in the past two months, following the Myrtle Beach and Fayetteville locations.

Antoinette Ellis, who has worked at the Wilmington location since its opening, expressed her shock at the sudden closure. She mentioned that staff had faced issues with receiving their paychecks on time in the weeks leading up to it. Despite working a full shift just the day before, employees were informed that the restaurant was closing without prior notice or explanation.

The corporate office of Walk-On’s expressed surprise at the closure but referred all questions about its reasons to Sadowski, who had not responded as of Tuesday evening. Ellis and her coworkers are now left in uncertainty about their next steps, with plans drastically changing due to the unexpected closure. Despite facing challenges such as job loss and financial uncertainty, they are grateful for the support and memories they created at the Wilmington location.

The note posted on the front door thanked customers for their support over the years and announced that Walk-On’s will continue to operate its other locations in Brunswick County.

Sadowski did not respond to inquiries as of Tuesday evening regarding why he closed all three locations within two months. However, it is believed that he may have faced financial difficulties or personal reasons for closing them down.

Ellis said that she felt a heavy heart when she saw the note on the door announcing permanent closure of her workplace.

“It’s devastating,” she said “We had so many good times here together.”

The Wilmington Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux location had become a popular spot for locals and tourists alike to enjoy delicious food and drinks while watching sports games on large screens. With its permanent closure, customers will have to find alternative places to satisfy their cravings.

In conclusion, while Sadowski may have faced financial difficulties or personal reasons for closing his three locations within two months, it is clear that his decision caused significant distress for both his employees and customers alike.
