Waipahu High School opens country’s first school-based health center

The new Waipahu High School Academic Health Center recently opened its doors, providing a state-of-the-art facility for students and staff. During the opening ceremony, Principal Zachary Sheets emphasized the importance of this new center for the school community. Students Leila Manibog and Althea Valenzuela posed in the reception area, showcasing the modern and welcoming space.

The Academic Health Center is equipped with exam rooms that feature the latest technology to provide quality healthcare services to students. Melia Abreu, senior director of organizational development at The Queen’s Health Systems, guided a tour of the facility, highlighting its innovative design and capabilities. Students Leila Manibog and Althea Valenzuela were seen sitting in the reception area, enjoying the new space created for their health and well-being.

Among the distinguished guests at the opening ceremony were Lieutenant Governor Sylvia Luke and Carl Vinson, director of workforce development for Hawai’i Pacific Health. Their presence highlighted the importance of this new Academic Health Center in providing essential services to the Waipahu community. The center is a valuable addition to the school, offering a holistic approach to student health and wellness.
