Vito Arujau Announces Withdrawal from 2024 Olympic Wrestling Trials due to Injury and Weight Cut Challenges

Vito Arujau, reigning world champion, opts out of 2024 Olympic Trials participation.

In a surprising announcement on social media, Vito Arujau revealed that he will not be participating in the upcoming 2024 Olympic Wrestling Trials. Despite his success in the previous season, Arujau faced several challenges that led him to make this decision.

In 2023, Arujau won his first NCAA title by defeating Daton Fix and Roman Bravo-Young, both former champions. He also secured a spot on the senior world team at 61 kg and went on to win a gold medal at the 2023 world championships. However, in the following season, he missed several matches due to an undisclosed injury and had to undergo a weight cut down to 57 kg, which is 8 pounds below his college weight. These factors have unfortunately led Arujau to decide not to compete at the Olympic Trials next weekend.

While it is disappointing news for Arujau and his fans, his health and well-being are top priorities. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing his return to the wrestling mat in the future.
