Visually Impaired Para-Athlete Trésor Makunda Enlists Help of Creative Eyewear Designers to Stand Out at Paris Paralympics

Trésor Makunda aims to stand out in the Paralympic Games 400m with her stylish glasses

Trésor Makunda, a visually impaired 400m champion and multi-medalist para-athlete, was in search of a unique and eye-catching pair of glasses to wear at the upcoming Paralympics in Paris. He emphasized the importance of his appearance, especially when he is on the starting line before a race. In order to stand out, Trésor collaborated with two creative eyewear bachelor students, Léna and Sébastien, who worked alongside their internship supervisors to create a customized pair of glasses for him.

Trésor specifically requested glasses that were both elegant and lightweight, a departure from the traditional sports glasses he typically wears during training provided by Optic 2000, one of his sponsors. With Léna and Sébastien’s help, he was able to achieve his vision for a festive and standout look within just two and a half months. The team designed and handcrafted a pair of glasses that caught Trésor’s eye perfectly while also reflecting his style and personality as he competes on the world stage once again.
