On Tuesday, the Minnesota Vikings announced that they had signed free agent defensive lineman Jalen Redmond. In a corresponding move, the team waived receiver Devron Harper. Redmond comes to the Vikings after playing for the UFL’s Arlington Renegades this spring where he excelled with 18 tackles, five tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks in four games.
Redmond originally entered the NFL in 2023 with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent from Oklahoma. During his time with the Sooners, Redmond showcased his skills with 71 tackles, 31.5 tackles for loss, 14 sacks, a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries in 19 starts out of the 36 games played from 2018-2022.
On the other hand, Harper had joined the Vikings earlier this spring as an undrafted rookie free agent from Mercer University. The Vikings are hopeful that these new additions will bring depth and talent to their roster as they prepare for the upcoming season.
